The State Bar of Arizona’s Southern Regional Office (SRO) is located in Tucson and primarily serves members and the public in Pima, Cochise and Santa Cruz counties.  These three counties include over 2,800 members, including retired and inactive members, or roughly 14% of the Bar’s total membership.  All members of the State Bar may avail themselves of the wide range of services provided by the SRO.

State Bar Purchases New Office in Tucson

The State Bar of Arizona has purchased an office building in Tucson that will be the new home of its southern regional office.

The new office is a two-story building located at 270 N. Church Avenue, next door to the Z Mansion. It offers 5,300 square feet of office space, including room for tenants, as well as on-site parking.

The increased space will allow the office to hold meetings and educational training to better serve the 3,000 attorneys practicing in southern Arizona. The Bar expects to move into the new space during the third quarter of 2008 after building renovations are complete.

The Bar's current Tucson office, located 320 S. Convent Avenue, will remain open until the move.

Attorney Jeffrey Hursh represented the bar in the purchase of the Tucson building, with Lawyers Title Agency handling the escrow.

Survey

Survey Results Are In!

Thank you to everyone who completed the Southern Regional Office’s survey in December 2007/January 2008!  The response rate was 22.4%, which enabled us to get some great feedback from members.  The results provided us with valuable information about members in the southern region and what they know about current Bar services and what they would like to see in the future.

In regard to service expansion opportunities, increased CLE and section meeting activities were the most important to members.  The survey also revealed that many members are not aware of the Bar’s current services.  To view the full results, click here.

To alleviate this situation, the SRO has implemented The Rattler as a vehicle for southern regional members to learn about Bar services, find out about upcoming events, and foster a greater sense of community among the legal field.  We have also launched this webpage to keep members up to date on what is happening in the southern region. 

In addition, the move to our new building on 270 North Church will enable us to provide more CLE and section meeting programming.  It will also provide an opportunity for Phoenix program staff to have office space in Tucson, including staff from LOMAP, MAP, and Lawyer Regulation.  Lastly, the new office will increase the visibility of the SRO in the southern region.
